On 19-20 April 2012, a Kharkiv court held a preliminary hearing in the case against former Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko over the activity of the corporation United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU). The Ukrainian news and analysis website Lb.ua reported that based on the results of the preliminary hearing, the judge presiding over the case, Kostyantyn Sadovskyy, had dismissed an appeal submitted by the former prime minister's defence to suspend the trial until Tymoshenko recovers.
