News Decision on Uzbekistan’s withdrawal from CSTO may be passed next week

he decision on the withdrawal of Uzbekistan from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) may be made on December 19. The next meeting of the heads of the CSTO member states will be held on this date in Moscow, APA reports quoting the official website of the organization. Besides the other issues, Uzbekistan’s application on the suspension of its activity in the organization has been also included in the agenda of the meeting. For this reason, Uzbekistan sent the relevant note to the CSTO Secretariat in June.

European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fuele said on 4 December 2012 that seven EU member states, including Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Italy and Spain, insist on Ukraine meeting the previously announced political conditions before an association agreement is signed.
