EU-Russia relations are seriously hindered by Russia's divide and conquer tactic

Ahead of next week's EU-Russia Summit, where a new partnership and cooperation agreement could be signed, EU members, including Latvia, must understand that Russia is nowhere near fulfilling the obligations it undertook when joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as obligations in other agreements signed between the EU and Russia, European Parliament Member Roberts Zile believes, informs LETA.

Catching up with the global energy demand

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global demand for energy will increase more than 33 percent by 2035. And following Germany’s decision to abandon its nuclear industry by 2020, electricity costs will be 1.5 times higher in Europe than the U.S. by 2030.

Russia criticizes U.S. recognition of Syrian opposition

Turkmenistan joins Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia

Decision on Uzbekistan’s withdrawal from CSTO may be passed next week

he decision on the withdrawal of Uzbekistan from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) may be made on December 19. The next meeting of the heads of the CSTO member states will be held on this date in Moscow, APA reports quoting the official website of the organization. Besides the other issues, Uzbekistan’s application on the suspension of its activity in the organization has been also included in the agenda of the meeting. For this reason, Uzbekistan sent the relevant note to the CSTO Secretariat in June.

Georgia’s negations with Russian Inter RAO on electricity tariffs nearing completion

CIS Summit in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

During his recent working visit to Turkmenistan, President Vladimir Putin expressed his content with the development of CIS, the Commonwealth of Independent States.
