Russia starts nationwide show of force

U.S. to keep more troops in Afghanistan than planned: AP

The United States has abandoned plans to cut the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan to 5,500 by year's end, the Associated Press reported on Saturday, but a senior U.S. official told Reuters no decision has been made.

China summons Myanmar ambassador after bomb kills four Chinese

China has summoned the Myanmar ambassador for a meeting in Beijing after a bomb from a Myanmar aircraft fell in Chinese territory and killed four Chinese people, China's foreign ministry said on Saturday.

Germany wants Russia to comply with Ukraine peace deal before sanctions eased: sources

U.S. slaps sanctions on Ukrainian rebels, Russian bank
