Medvedev to push peace talks on rare Middle East tour

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev this week embarks on a rare visit to the Middle East in an effort to push forward the Israeli-Palestinian peace process after US-brokered talks stalled last year.

S. Korea, Japan Improve Military Ties in Face of North Korean Threat

South Korea and Japan have held their first talks on creating unprecedented agreements to share military intelligence and equipment. It is something the United States has encouraged because of recent attacks blamed on North Korea and Pyongyang’s continuing nuclear threat. But both Seoul and Tokyo may find it necessary to move cautiously because of historical legacies and concern about how Beijing will react.

US-Russia civil nuclear deal comes into effect

An agreement allowing U.S. companies to export nuclear technology to Russia is to take effect Tuesday after the U.S. ambassador and a deputy Russian foreign minister exchange diplomatic notes.

Medvedev ratifies nuclear energy pact with Japan

The Russian president on Saturday ratified a civil nuclear energy pact with Japan that allows the transfer of Japanese technology to Russia and the sale of more Russian uranium to energy-poor Japan. President Dmitry Medvedev ratified the pact after it was passed by the lower and upper houses of the Russian parliament in December last year, the Kremlin said in a statement on its website.

Japan, Turkey ink initial directive on nuclear power plant deal

Japan and Turkey inked a directive on bilateral nuclear cooperation, taking both countries a step closer towards the fruition of a 20 billion U.S. dollar tie-up for Japanese firms to build a nuclear facility in Turkey, a Japanese industry ministry official said Friday.

Japan, Russia to build liquid natural gas plant: report
