Mehmood Ul Hassan Khan is head of Geopolitics/Economics at the Defence Journal. He is a prominent regional expert on Central Asia & the South Caucasus. He worked for Transparency International and ‘UK Anti-Corruption Defense’. He is associated with the BBC Asia Network. He worked for USGAM and also with Anksam, Turkey, as a Regional Expert. He studied and graduated with qualifications in Economics, Statistics (University of Punjab, Pakistan), Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations (University of Punjab), FEL/Law, (University of Punjab) MSc in Development (University of Punjab), M.Phil. in Development (University of Punjab) and Ph.D. (Economics) University of Punjab, Pakistan). He also has a Masters in Administrative Sciences from the University of Punjab, Pakistan 

He has over 28 years of diversified and integrated national/international professional as well as academic experience working with government, academic institutions, private sector and international organisations. Mehmood is an active scholar with regular participation in international conferences, workshops, seminars and related events dealing with regional security, energy & food security and terrorism. He has written and publishes widely since the mid-1990s on topics covering energy, geo-politics and geo-strategic, economics & finance (national & international), and other developmental issues. He is a regular contributor to academic, professional and industry journals and periodicals in Pakistan and across the world.
