PhD Student Jack Sharples is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. During his PhD studies he has been a visiting researcher at the European University of St Petersburg, the University of Kent, Brussels School for International Studies, and the Institute of Europe, Moscow. His current research focuses on Russian state and expert conceptions of Russia’s natural gas relations with the EU and its Member States, and explores the impact of gas exports to the EU on Russia’s international and domestic development. Jack’s broader research interests include EU-Russia energy relations; Russian domestic and external energy policy; and Russian foreign policy and relations with the EU. He also holds an Msc and an MRes in Russian and East European Studies (both from University of Glasgow), and a BA in Politics from the University of York, England. Jack speaks English and Russian. Jack is also an EGF researcher in the sphere of Russian energy policy and foreign affairs.
